TMDA would like to notify consumers that it has approved more hand sanitizers for use to help in the fight against COVID-19. Alcohol based hand sanitizers are in the group of antiseptics and have proven to be effective in denaturing viruses that can contaminate our hands. This is due to the fact that viruses are protein in nature and therefore the use of such products including soap can help in reducing their numbers on our hands and henceforth halt transmission.

Since when COVID-19 broke out in Tanzania, TMDA has observed a massive influx of applications for registration of hand sanitizers. We have been registering these products within three days to cope with the huge demand.
