TMDA has published its latest guidelines for manufacturing and registration of hand sanitizers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines amongst others outline procedures to be followed by applicants to register their hand sanitizers with TMDA.

Simple formulas for preparation of more stable products have also been proposed in this guiding document. Of interest to note is the alcohol content limit of not less than 60 percent and not more than 95 percent that manufacturers should ensure their final products comply with.

All small and medium enterprises (SMEs) whom have recently embarked on manufacturing such products are directed to follow these guidelines for preparation of good quality, safe and efficacious hand sanitizers.
