TMDA's Corporate Customers

TMDA’s corporate customers include pharmaceutical manufacturers, importers, distributors, healthcare institutions, and development partners who play a vital role in supporting regulatory functions. These stakeholders are recognized for their compliance, contributions, and commitment, and TMDA strives to ensure that all interactions with them are conducted with empathy and professionalism.

Criteria Qualification

Our Corporate Customers may be determined based on the following criteria: -

General Criteria

  • Must be registered with TMDA and have paid all necessary fees in the respective financial and/or calendar year;
  • Must have demonstrated a good track record without a history of non-compliance for at least five recent financial years;
  • Must be a member of a recognized association, such as TPMA for manufacturers and TAPI for importers;
  • For stakeholder/development partner must have significantly contributed to the improvement of regulatory functions through capacity building, research and infrastructure development;
  • MAH must have submitted at least 500 adverse event reports for the last 3 years; and
  • Any customer designated as such by the Director General.

Specific criteria

  • Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH) who has registered more than 100 products of either medicines or medical devices and has a good track record of paying retention fees as per requirements for each financial year;
  • An importer with more than 100 approved import permits for at least two consecutive financial years; and
  • A domestic manufacturer who has maintained a compliant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) status for at least three consecutive years and registered at least 80% of all manufactured products.

Incentives provided to corporate customers: -

  • Served while seated in a designated room within office working hours;
  • Provision of soft drinks, coffee or tea while waiting to be served;
  • A phone call at least once quarterly to find out if the customer is experiencing any challenges while seeking TMDA services;
  • A copy of TMDA IEC materials such as calendars, t-shirts or any other gift as determined by the Director General from time to time;
  • Recognition in the form of an acknowledgement letter or certificate at the end of each calendar year; and
  • An invitation to attend one annual event (subject to availability of resources).
  • A recognition letter may also be provided in case of the Corporate Customer's notable achievement, such as the construction of a manufacturing plant, expansion of the scope of their services, the anniversary of the provision of services and others
  • The agreed gift shall be delivered to the Corporate Customer by appointed TMDA staff at an appropriate time or during the official Corporate Customer's Day.
Criteria for Disqualification

A Corporate Customer may be removed from the List of Approved Corporate Customers if: -

  • During the annual review is found to be no longer complying with the criteria stipulated under Section 6.4 above;
  • Found and proved to have attempted to corrupt officials;
  • Proved to disrespect or use disrespectful language to officials; and
  • There is evidence of any attempt to compromise with regulatory requirements.
