Mr. Mohamed Iwodyah Abdulkadri
Head, Dodoma Laboratory
Mohamed A. Iwodyah is a Pharmaceutical Laboratory Analyst with over fifteen years working experience in the Area of Food and Medical Products Testing for Regulatory purposes.
Mohamed begun his carrier in 2010 as Laboratory Technician and later in 2017 acquired a Bachelor of Technology in Laboratory Sciences from Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT). Throughout his carrier Mohamed has developed strong foundation in the area of food and pharmaceutical products testing employing spectroscopy, chromatography and other related compound separation techniques.
Currently, Mohamed is working as The Head of Dodoma Laboratory where he utilizes his skills and experience in developing analytical methods for quantifying and detecting solvents and contaminants in pharmaceutical products.
The Dodoma Laboratory, located in Dodoma, is a facility of the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) established in 2021. The laboratory was set up following TMDA’s designation as the regulator of tobacco products, under section 18 of the Tobacco Products (Regulations) Act, Cap. 121, and Government Notice No. 360 published on 30th April 2021.
The laboratory plays a vital role in protecting and promoting public health by ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of tobacco, herbal products, and other regulated health-related products.
Quality Management system
The Dodoma laboratory operates under a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017. This ensures that all testing activities are performed with the highest levels of accuracy, reliability, and traceability, supporting TMDA’s mission to safeguard public health through rigorous scientific testing.
Our Equipment
The laboratory is equipped with advanced analytical instruments, including:
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatographs (HPLCs)
- UV-Visible Spectrophotometers
- Furnaces
These tools enable precise testing and analysis of regulated products, reinforcing TMDA’s commitment to quality, safety, and efficacy.
